IT'S NOT REAL

This isn't a real blog post - it's just a crappy update. I've been bitching about my plumbing problems so much lately that I wanted to assure everyone that help is on the way.
If you want a REAL blog post, check out my previous one.

In desperation, I called my Tennessee realtor today and asked if he knew any reliable (or even unreliable) plumbers. He referred me to a friend of his named David and the guy showed up within twenty minutes. He checked out my pipes (don't panic, it was nothing sexual). At least one is broken and none have been winterized.

Unfortunately, David recently had knee surgery and can't crawl around under houses very well. Also, his elderly father is hospitalized in serious condition. He promised to fix the pipes ASAP. I told him to take his time and not to worry. If I survived this past week without water, another week won't kill me. Maybe.

You'll have to excuse me while I go through my annual Downton Abbey withdrawal. Season Five just ended and I'm already getting the shakes and breaking out into a cold sweat.

Has anyone ever been startled when that clock on my blog sidebar chimes? Every time it bongs it scares the living jeeters out of me. When I initially installed it I had no idea that it chimed.

I just edited the clock. Hopefully it won't chime any more. I didn't want to risk scaring someone to death.

  1. Soooo glad to see there's light at the end of the tunnel!
I had to chuckle at your mention of the clock on your sidebar. Just other day I minimized your post, then forgot to sign out. My hubby came along to 'surf' whatever it is he surfs ... then after about an hour he asks, do you hear a clock?

    1. Just tell your husband "No, I didn't hear a clock. Must be your imagination."
      It'll drive him crazy.

  2. Glad you are getting your plumbing fixed. Now hope your back is better. Like the clock, I wasn't startled but it did surprise me.

    1. That clock never fails to scare me. You'd think I would be used to it by now.

  3. Glad to hear there has been progress on the plumber. Better late than never. And to tell you the truth, yes I was startled. And I spent quite alot of time trying to figure out where the chimes were coming from. Mystery solved.

  4. Here is hoping the plumber comes back, and brings a lithe young helper to fix your pipes. They may be bale to make some recommendations on how to keep this from happening again.

I think there is a dent in my ceiling from the first time I heard the clock chime.

  5. So glad that help may be on the way with your plumbing problems. Knee surgery can't crawl around under houses? Tell me about it, I want so bad to clean my kitchen floor but that is out of the question now. I just finished talking to Pat in Toronto and he was crawling around on his floor hands and knees cleaning. It'll be three months before I'll be able to do anything like that. But I hope you get your pipes fixed soon. Tonight I watch the last episode of Downton Abbey. I don't go into withdrawal yet because I'm ordering season four from Netflix. I know I'm watching it out of sequence but I know I'll enjoy just as much. Again be careful on the snow and ice..

  7. I hope you get your pipes fixed soon. I think if I had to be with water that long I would be in a bad mood! I never got to hear your clock I'm either on the laptop or my Nook HD and I can't hear a sound without ear plugs. Take Care.

  8. I sure hope plumber David's knee heals soon, but if not, tell him to reroute everything at belly-level on the outside wet-wall, then build a wall over that --with a door in it. That's what I did when I saw I was getting unbendy and have never regretted it. What sadist designed homes with supply pipes under the floor? They freeze up and burst down there often enough. Might as well route them where you can reach them and wrap them. Works here, but we don't have sub-zero temperatures. Ask David when he returns and let me know, ok?
