BAD MOOD

All right, people, just back off and give me room to breathe! I'm in a very rotten mood today and I don't want anybody to get hurt.

Jon? In a rotten mood? Impossible!
How could anybody as sweet, easy-going, charming, and utterly irresistible as you ever be in a rotten mood?

Hey, bucko, flattery will get you nowhere. How'd you like me to take that On the Good Ship Lollipop attitude and shove it up your - -

Whoa, Jon! Just calm down and keep away from my ass. What seems to be the problem?

ProbLEMS. With an "S". Plural. Multiple.

First of all I didn't get any sleep - not a damn wink - and when I don't sleep I can't function and can't think and have absolutely no motivation and I turn into a consummate bitch, and come to think of it, even when I DO sleep I usually can't think and can't function and have no motivation, so you can imagine how much worse it is when I DON'T sleep - -

not to mention that my back still hurts and I'm hobbling around like a spastic gremlin and my reading glasses broke so I had to use duck tape to hold them together and my lawn mower's broke so I can't mow the 6,000 frickin' mountain acres that I live on and now that I've finally eliminated the 20,000 carpenter bees that were nesting around my house 50,000 wasps have eagerly moved in and I was supposed to make the 600 mile trip to town yesterday but it rained so hard that I didn't go and as a result I didn't get groceries so I'm completely out of milk and bread, not to mention cat food and cat litter and the litter is the most important thing because without litter my cats are miserable and have been giving me dirty looks and plotting against me........

Wait a minute while I catch my breath. I'm just getting warmed up.

No need to elaborate, Jon. We get the general idea.

Well, I didn't even mention Windows yet. I'm not talking house windows. I'm talking computer Windows. I have major issues with Microsoft. Few entities on earth annoy me more than Windows, and if I could come in physical contact with the sadists in charge I'd punch them so damn hard that they'd all go down like a row of dominoes.

My old desktop computer is still on Windows 7 - - - or is it Windows 3? Hell, with all the problems it has, it might be running on Windows Minus 15.

Are those continuous, infuriatingly annoying never-ending updates really necessary? And if Microsoft is so frickin' great, how come they need to inflict our computers with updates every ten minutes?

So, Jon - updates really bother you, huh?

Don't interrupt. I'm on a roll.

So, it took me over six months to finally figure out the basic rudiments of Windows 8, and just as I was almost getting used to it, the grim announcement came that there's now an upgrade for Windows 10.
By the way - what the hell ever happened to Windows 9? Did I miss something?

Microsoft has more freakin' windows than New York City. Think about that for a moment. It might get funny.
Then again, it might not........

Did anybody happen to encounter Windows Movie Maker 8? It SUCKS big time. In order to make it "easier to use", they eliminated all of the good features that were on Windows Movie Maker 7. I tried to download Windows Movie Maker 7 to my Windows 8 laptop last night with no luck.

So now, in order to make a new video, I'll have to do it on my old computer - - and all the photos and graphics that I want to use are stored on my new laptop.

Note:
Okay, I was finally able to download MovieMaker 2.6 to my laptop and I'm happy. Or reasonably happy.

By the way - - did you ever try to use the new improved Windows Easy Transfer?  Trust me, it's about as easy as pulling teeth from a hen. Especially since the easy Network transfer no longer works.

A Hungarian pox on Windows and all it's vile components.

Feeling better, Jon?

I will in a few weeks, when my blood pressure goes down.

  1. Well you are in a tizzie, aren't you Jon? Why don't you take a cup of coffee out on to that nice porch swing and relax? I'm debating if I should take Windows 10 or not, afraid I may not be able to play all the games I like.

    1. If Windows 8 scares me, I'm certain that Windows 10 would terrify me. I'd like to sit on the porch swing but the wasps would devour me.

  2. Find some funny blogs and read them, if Windows will let you read blogs, blogger is Google service, Windows hates Google almost as much as we hate Windows.

    1. I'll probably be back to normal after I get a good nights sleep. Unfortunately, my version of "normal" is abnormal.......

  5. I believe there was a Windows 9 but it was withdrawn from production for being too easy to use.

    1. Thanks for providing me with the only laugh I had all day. I'm still trying to figure out Windows 1.

  6. Time for your Midol, Jon?

Windows stopped using years (e.g., 95, 98, the abysmal me/2000) with XP. 98 SE, XP, and 7 were all fine in my book. I detest 8 and 8.1; they needed to have separate versions for touch (the failed Surface) and non-touch screens, in my opinion. So you'll notice that after 3.1, they used years, and they are jumping 9 to go directly to 10 because that name tested better. Perhaps coincidentally, Apple's current OS is also 10 (tho they use the Roman numeral X). They instead change their versions by a name after the X; it used to be big cats and now I think they've moved on to mountains or something.

Windows 10 won't release until the end of July, by most prognostications the 29th. I will upgrade eventually (you have a year in which to do so) because it is free for 7 and 8 owners, and supposedly you get lifetime support.

Strangely, Microsoft continues to use years for their Office products.

Now go have that lie down, perhaps after a soothing cup of Celestial Seasonings tea. ~~~ NB

I absolutely agree that they should have separate versions for touch and non-touch screens.

  7. I totally understand about your cats plotting against you. My three are so set in their ways. I've had them 13 years. Their catbox is a touchy subject here too. I hope you make it to town for your peace of mind and your cats! He he😊

    1. I also have three cats. The two younger ones share a litter box. The older one prefers a box to herself. Running out of litter is a disaster!

  8. I'm sorry to hear of your crummy circumstances, Jon.
PS - But, thanks for pointing out the gap between Windows 8 and 10. 'Thought I was the only one scratching my head..

  9. I don't know a thing about computers but I'm pretty good with numbers. I figured 9 comes after 8 and before 10.......

  10. Poor you.......I can join you only in sympathy with the back pain issue. I twisted my back yesterday trying my best to catch a spider doing a runner across the sitting room floor. It done a double dodge manoeuvre and under the settee, the little shit!

I hear very similar complaints from my daughter over Windows 8. Don't understand them but it gets her moody as Hell!

  11. I think I aged 20 years after encountering Windows 8. I'm sorry to hear about your twisted back. Spiders are one of the few things that truly scare the hell out of me.

  12. Well, here I go again Jon. I don't know if my previous comment took hold (I'm doing this from work). I truly sympathize with you having to suffer through any Windows based product. I've said it before and at the risk of being really annoying, if you can, switch to an Apple computer. Why continue to put yourself through the frustration of daily upgrades and "improvements" (that really aren't improvements) and slower and slower computers? Free yourself Jon, get an iMac or a MacBook Pro. Your life will be infinitely more pleasurable. Me, Larry and Pat are all on Apple products now. No more torture for us.

  13. I'm surprised at how many people are chained to Windows like slaves (including myself). I'm glad that you've broken free, For me, bad habits are hard to break - but I will consider looking into Apple.

  14. We order a new laptop with Windows 8 and within a week had sent it back and asked for a refund or a computer with Windows 7....ugh...let's picket the company...!!

  15. Is it possible that Windows 10 will be even worse than Windows 8???

  16. I'd say that you had good reason to be in a foul mood! Nothing gets me angrier than computer problems. Our new desktop uses 8.1 and I'm not a fan. The first thing we did was download a "skin" which makes it look like 7 with start button etc. That makes 8.1 slightly bearable! Get that mower fixed!
