AFTERTHOUGHT

A few afterthoughts about my previous post:

There are no simple or foolproof solutions to terrorism. My paltry suggestion, basically, was to fight back without intimidation and enforce stringent security at our borders.
And even if security was enforced, America has plenty of its own home-grown terrorists.

No specific politicians can be blamed.
It's neither the fault of Bush nor Obama. But all of our politicians are  too lax, too lenient, FAR too weak, too afraid, too indifferent - - for whatever reasons.

I truly appreciated all your comments - and thought it was best for me not to
dilute them with my individual replies.

I wish world peace could be obtained in
our lifetimes, but it never will - not without the assistance of  power greater than that of mortal man.

Jon

  1. There are many political persuasions in this country, all of them necessary for government by discussion and all of them of unimpeachable patriotism. So long as we all want peace, there is a common goal. The free countries of this planet have done pretty well. Fortune seems to favor them. I think we'll see peace in our time.

    1. Geo., long ago I used to have definite beliefs and simple answers. The older get the more complicated things seem. I'm more confused and disheartened than ever.

  2. Jon,
The reality is, that one tribe will always fight another. There will always be those who seek to impose their beliefs and values onto others, and if they don't accept, they will destroy. You're right, world peace will never be obtained in our lifetime. It is impossible. The best we can do is seek a safe place, defend ourselves and try to survive. That's the only answer I have.

    1. Ron the world is filled with so much evil that it is unconquerable. I fear that the prospect of peace is a dream, not a reality. As you said, all we can do is find a safe place and try to survive.

  5. I wish for peace but fear it won't come. Too many people would rather have the power instead.
