REMEMBER

Remember the bitchy post that I wrote a few weeks ago complaining that every Monday is a holiday? Well, it wasn't much of an exaggeration. Today is yet another holiday. President's Day.

I dare not mention anything about presidents....or politics. The last time I did a post on that subject, over a dozen people permanently fled my blog. I also received a blitz of hate mail and even one death wish (I kid you not).

So much for free speech and American patriotism. Express it and you might be burned at a stake.

Do I sound bitter? That was my intention.

I'll wander into neutral territory and offer a video. Don't panic - it's not another one of my piano music videos. This recent creation is called Remember with music by California musician Richard Buckner.

The original title of this song is Willow. It was later used in the 2008 movie Dream Boy, based on the novel by Jim Grimsley.

In the film version, the song is performed by Richard Buckner and Patty Griffin, and has (erroneously) been known as Remember ever since.

I chose the title Remember for my video, simply because it seems more appropriate for my thoughts and intention.

  1. It is a pseudo holiday. One in which most of the worker do not get paid for it but pay for it for government workers

    1. The government workers should be compelled to work on holidays....(*smile*)

  2. Please, witches were burned at the stake for far less Jon. But it does seem that these holidays land on Mondays no? But it's a day off for me, and I could use the rest, even though it's in the high 60's and I want to go jog around the lake, but I'll just keep laying here in my undies for now.

    1. It's finally in the 60's here, too, and I love it. Spring can't come soon enough.

If I'm going to be executed, I hope I'm burned at a stake. I want to leave in a big dramatic way.

  4. Jon, the video is beautiful. About politics, I don't know, seems to be on everybody's mind now. Last night I posted a silly thing mainly about little animals that live under snowpacks and a phone-call from Mrs. Santa Claus. Comments got more and more political. I went to bed. I guess it's something we deal with every election year.

    1. It's unnerving when politics infiltrate unpolitical things....
BTW, I read your post and liked it - but I couldn't come up with a clever comment
(despite the facade, I'm not a very clever person).

  6. Monday is my favorite day of the week and I rather it not be a holiday. Guess if I was working or in school I would like it. President Lincoln was my favorite president.

    1. I just hate the fact that the banks and post offices are always closed when I seem to need them the most.
Lincoln is probably my favorite president, too.

  7. There are certain holidays that mean nothing if you are not in the education field or government... and then that is only because it makes for a 3-day weekend. Sorry about your death threat. Makes for a great story, I suppose, but... sheesh. Nothing like a united country.

Hope your week is a good one, Jon.

    1. That isn't the first time someone put a death curse on me - and I'm sure it won't be the last....
Hey, if I have just one day that is good this week, I'll be happy.

  8. Haunting song...some Mondays do suck, this one not so much. Talking about getting in trouble speaking about politics. My poor BIL was helping us set up as a vendor this past weekend, the folks next to us were from England. The woman had a voice just like their Prime Minister, so Larry started to say - hey I could play Trump and you could be the Prime Minister..barely got that out when the woman started screaming at him..don't mention that piece of shit's name to me, don't talk politics! The husband jumps in and says "Are you threatening my wife?" "I'm going to get security" - I jump up and say Whoa! No one is talking politics, it was a damn joke. I told Larry to take a walk and I told the people to leave us alone, and we pulled down one of the sides so we would not be able to see one another. This was so totally surreal - now you can't even mention his name, that's going overboard in my book.

    1. Sandi, I never fully realized how intense the HATE is when it comes to politics until this past election. I lost a lot of so-called "friends" because of it - not only bloggers, but also people that I know personally. The ugly incident that you mentioned is frightening.

    1. I started making that video a few months ago - mainly because I like the song. Eventually I abandoned the project because I thought it was worthless. The other night I looked at it again and decided to finish it. Thanks for the positive input.

  10. I just can't believe " a death threat"!? Just keep on being you.

I forgot to mention in your last post that Phil received the only Valentines Day card here at this house. It was from the two spinster cats across the street. (I kid you not.)

  11. Like others have said, "haunting" is so appropriate. Sometimes I wish I couldn't remember. Again, I'm touched.
You didn't ask, but I think the President's Day holiday is sooooo stupid.
