THE CHRISTMAS SONG

This has been an unusually cold December - - or perhaps it only feels that way because the house is so frigid and drafty. I don't need a new heater. I need an exorcist.

When I crawl into my icy bed, Bosco and Scruffy (the cats) leap on me like leaches and never leave. Thank goodness Scratch doesn't join them. Three cats would completely suffocate me. Scratch would join me, but she's not particularly fond of her two feline counterparts. She regards them merely with polite toleration.

Tonight is extremely quiet. I heard the howls of distant coyotes awhile ago and a few hooting owls, but that's it.

Instead of writing a tedious and lengthy blog post (which is my uncontrollable habit), I'll provide one of my musical interludes. I posted this last year, but doubt if anybody remembers.

It's also available on my YouTube channel Jayveesonata (I don't know the link).

  1. I'm sure your feline family like to snuggle with you in the cold of night. Yesterday was a cold drizzling day here. Usually our cold comes during the stock show and rodeo in February. We've already had some snow so no telling what comes next to surprise us.

  3. This week the temp is supposed to continue to drop every day till we get to barely double digits for highs by the end of the week and below zero at night. But we could have snow. I sure hope so! I want more snow for Christmas. We have a little but you can still see the grass. Lovely piano piece. Stay warm. Kitties are better than hot water bottles. ;)

  7. Last year? Of course I remember. My mother tried to teach me piano when I was a kid and I mastered "Over the Rainbow" and was done. You have a real aptitude for the instrument and sound like you have 5 times as many fingers cooperating with each other than I ever did. Your greatness is in your love of music. We are the happy recipients. Thanks, Jon.

  8. This time of the year is good for less words and more quite nights, and peaceful holiday music.....and a nice whiskey on the rocks.

  9. Funny, I just started to write a comment and ... it's gone! AND, it was about the exorcist! Oh, no, perhaps there really is something ghostly going on... It did make me laugh, though (the comment) so thank you. Your heartwarming youtube video is the best possible antidote to the spooks, and I hope you have a good Christmas, with just enough - but not too many - gothic Dickensian touches! :)

I love comments. Go ahead and leave one - I won't bite. But make sure you have a rabies shot just in case.
