I've always loathed "comment moderation" on blogs and vowed that I'd never use it.
I feel that it is an annoying humiliation for people who want to leave comments. They have to wait until their input is "approved" by the blog author.
Unfortunately, I have been compelled to change my blog settings to "comment moderation".
This is because one pathetic, miserable "anonymous" person has decided to attatch themselves to my blog like a leech - - - and take delight in harshly criticizing everything I do.
This must be an extremely difficult task - - - since I am nearly perfect in every aspect. Writing, music, art......heck, even occasional humor......
Begone, Leech
Jon 🩷 undeniably fascinating
I didn't intend to insult those bloggers who have comment moderation.....I understand.
I've used comment moderation because of being swamped by spam and being a woman, rude comments from men. I don't mind when people use it, knowing they need to protect themselves. I always appreciate people who moderate quickly if possible.
ReplyDeleteYes you are perfect!
ReplyDeleteJon,
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry that a leech has attached itself to your blog. Several years ago I went through that. I forget how I found out but it was some miserable old woman. I was constantly having to delete here comments which were meant to trigger me, which they did. Then her comments abruptly stopped. She probably died. Good riddance. These are sick people, trolling the Internet seeking honest people like you and me to annoy. That's how they get their jollies. Truly sick.
Ron
I have had to use the moderation due to spammers. Never looked back and don't regret it. And I haven't had a stalker, even. :)
ReplyDeleteKnock wood, no leeches have attached themselves to my blog -- with the exception of a couple commenters who I suspect are actually bots.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you've had to resort to this step, but those of us who love you don't mind.
Trolls be gone! Kudos to you, Jon. The less of that nonsense the better! Trolls are alive and well and that's how they live their sad, little lives. Pathetic creatures, really. Now, back to the important stuff....Halloween, kitties, music, art and poetry. Bring it on!

Although I have never used comment moderation, it seems that many bloggers do so and sadly for reasons you and they have mentioned here. The only issues I have had are with spammers, which is considerably less than before as I report every one as phishing and it has cut has the amount significantly. Of course this is another thing to do, but for myself it’s easier than moderating comments. But whatever works best for you.
