I made this video a few years ago, revised it several times, have never been satisfied.
My main purpose for creating this was to provide a reflective moment for soothing and regenerating the soul.
Music is from the opera (or festival play) Parsifal by Richard Wagner.
Parsifal isn't a religious opera but uses religious symbols and incorporates the mythical quest for the Holy Grail.
It is a complex utilization of desire, remorse, suffering, healing, redemption, resurgence - - over the span of nearly five hours....
.... one of my favorite operas.
It is definitely an intense spiritual experience.
Easter Greetings, Jon
(video best viewed full screen, full volume)
P.S.
I have absolutely no updates concerning my latest "plight". The biopsy is serious and I need surgery. Everything is moving at an annoying pace - - slower than a sleeping snail.
My AI image of the knight Parsifal.
He's holding the holy spear. In the distance is the Castle of the Grail.
Enjoyed the video, Jon, despite your misgivings about it and sending best wishes for 🐰Easter. The prospect of surgery has to be unnerving and worrisome to say the least. Hoping for the best outcome, my friend.
ReplyDeleteI received your Easter card a few days ago. Thanks for thinking of me - it means a lot.
DeleteHope you and Patrick have a wonderful Easter.
Thanks, Jon, for letting me know that the card arrived before the bunny. Also, thank you for the well wishes for us.
DeleteTry to have a happy Easter, Jon.
ReplyDeletePlease, let us know when you hear anything about the surgery.
My life, as I once knew it, has completely vanished. I'll update whenever I get any plausible information.
DeleteI remember sharing this video on Facebook several years ago. (Just checked in "my memories" but it says "Private.")
ReplyDeleteYes, please let us know what you hear about the surgery!
I'm starting to wonder if anyone here knows what they're doing. Things have become much more complicated since Hospice is involved. I'll update when I get any info.
DeleteI remember when you shared this video.
Feel free to share anything I post, any time.
Each year on Karfreitag, I turn to Parsifal—Wagner’s final opera, rooted in themes of transformation and renewal. Set on Good Friday in the meadow of Montsalvat, the work offers one of the most contemplative and luminous passages in all of Wagner’s writing.
ReplyDeleteThank you for posting the video, Jon. Beautiful.
I'm sorry to hear about the needed surgery. I'm hoping this helps resolves some issues. Having hospice in the mix I can see the complications. Sending you the best thoughts I can. Please keep us posted.
Paranormal John
I'm glad you mentioned the important Good Friday. Parsifal is truly a potent spiritual experience. I always listen to it near Easter.
DeleteI saw many productions. One of my favorites is Bayreuth production with Poul Elming as ( a beautiful) Parsifal. I think it was 1999, but not sure.
My current problems are endless, but sublime music soothes me.
I'll keep updating.
A soul stirring and beautiful piece of music, so fitting for this Good Friday, and upcoming Easter Sunday.
ReplyDeleteHold steadfast to your faith and positive thoughts, I'm praying for your recovery.
Easter blessings dear friend.
Jo
The music definitely soothes my soul and it is an atmospheric accompaniment for the Easter season.
DeleteI'll keep plodding on and updating when I can.
Wishing you and your family a beautiful and blessed Easter.
I have always loved this video, Jon. The music and the images are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteAnd one of my favorite all-time movies is "Excalibur" - in fact, my husband and I both love it and watched it on our wedding night (we had a Renaissance theme wedding).
HAPPY GOOD FRIDAY!!
- Kim
I love the idea of a Renaissance wedding, and Excalibur is an innovative film.
DeleteI hope your Easter weekend is pleasant (and you're not working too hard).
Thanks, Kim.
