Thank you for your recent comments, all of which I read. I apologize for having annoying "Comment Moderation," which I might remove in probable-near future.
October! My favorite month. Unfortunately it holds no miracles, but we'll see what might happen in the next few weeks.
Today (Oct. 1st) I had my third radiation treatment. The first was on Monday, surprisingly on schedule as promised.
I had to get up at an unholy early hour, because we left at 6:30 a.m. - just as the sun is coming up. It takes over an hour to get to Cookeville and the appt. is about 8:00 a.m.
Instead of an ambulance, I was plopped in a wheelchair and taken in the Signature Health Care transit van - - just me, the driver, and Martha - the near 80 yr. old nurse whom I've known since my severe illness in 2023. Every day I get a different nurse.
When I arrived in radiation on Monday, my arm started bleeding. They had to change everything including my hospital gown.
Radiation only lasts about twenty minutes, painless, and very few initial side effects. Mine are dehydration and fatigue.
My radiation today (Wednesday) lasted about an hour, because there was computer trouble. I had to lay motionless on the rock-hard table, which destroys my back.
Otherwise things are going okay. My oncologist said it might take the bleeding to stop days after the treatments. The outcome and results vary....
That's about all I will say for now. This week is grueling and tiresome. My spirits lift when I go outdoors. Glorious sunshine and 80 degrees. No autumn foliage yet.
Jon ❤️ spirit resurrected but unsettled....
Since it's October - magnificent autumn - I'm going to bombard you with some of my most recent AI (artificial intelligence) autumn creations. I have very many.
If you dislike AI and it annoys you - - leave. Go to the "My Favorite Embalmers" blog.
If you like my AI creations, heck, I think they're rather intriguing.....at least some of them.
Welcome!!! πππ
Dawn of Autumn
I made about a dozen of these, but couldn't chose. This was one of my favorites.
In the Soft Arms of the Leaves
I made four variations of this pic, but I liked the way the light looks on this one
Foliage FugueNightmare Rider
What? You don't like it?? It's just a Halloween thought....
The Conjurer
A witch? Perhaps....who knows....
House of Dark Rumors
Could it be haunted?
The Pumpkin Lovers
The title has multiple facets....
The Grape Lovers
(I just changed the last two pictures)
All these pics seem much sweeter...or do they seem so because there is so much hope around you and prayers and positives right now? :) At least when you are bleeding now you are around people who know what to do! :)
ReplyDeleteWell, my reply to your comment vanished. Blogger is playing Halloween pranks.
DeleteYes, I tried to make some of the pics more upbeat rather than doom and gloom.
Hopefully these medical people know what they're doing....
I'm glad the radiation is finally under way, at last. Let's hope the arm will be more manageable after this series. And that you can enjoy a bit of October.
ReplyDeleteMy biggest battle will be trying to get home, all of this wasted time for the past few months is infuriating. I hope the radiation will do something positive!
DeleteCongrats on FINALLY getting radiation! Miracles do happen! Now...the rest of the plan needs to fall into place so you can watch the sunrise and sunset from YOUR home...with a kitty on your lap.
ReplyDeleteI really like the AI. The haunted house is a winner. My favorite topic says Paranormal John. The boys with the pumpkins....is that entitled "I'll show you my pumpkin if you show me your pumpkin?" I also love the jack-o-lantern on the piano. Everyone ticks a box for me. My favorite holiday. I'm longing to see you Halloween clock! I look forward to that every year. I've never been able to find one like that for sale....I keep looking.
I hope your rides and treatment to radiation are safe and comfortable (well, as can be).
Keep us posted. Best Wishes and thank you for the great AI's. What a treat (no tricks).
Paranormal John
I can hardly believe I'm finally getting radiation - - but I'm infuriated at all the precious time that was wasted.
DeleteI like the haunted house, too. I did several of them, and will include them in another blog post. I have looked for Halloween clocks on the Internet but didn't find anything good. Perhaps something decent might come up under vintage or antique....??
I've got to devise some sort of strategy to get home before October ends...it's going to be difficult, but I'll try. π
Of course I love the Black birds and the foxes. I think fox are my spirit animal.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you're in a bit better mood, and that your treatments have started. Let's hope thy make a difference for the good. I love October too, and not just because of my birthday and Halloween. It just has the "feeling" of a month. Colorful, cool, crisp, and haunting.
I like foxes and blackbirds, too. For some reason, I seem to identify with wolves. Probably a Hungarian werewolf saga....
DeleteOctober really is a perfect month - - there are so many satisfying things about it. A haunting, nostalgic beauty.
Thanks so much for this update, Jon! You've been in my thoughts. I remember when Tom was going through radiation it just sucked all the "oompf" out of him and then some. I never realized that could be so physically draining.
ReplyDeleteAs ever, I'm enjoying your AI creations. I'd like to live near that "House of Dark Rumors."
I think the biggest side effect of radiation is fatigue. I had a lot of that when I had seven weeks of radiation two years ago. Right now it seems to make me dehydrated.
DeleteI like the haunted house pic, too. I just changed the last two pictures. I included Echoes of Ghosts, an old church.
I'll have more updates and pics.
Did you notice no one is pressing down the piano keys, even the cats sitting on them. I may have discovered a weakness of AI. π
ReplyDeleteYou're too observant. πΈ But I did notice on some of my pics that the heavy older cats didn't press down on the keys. You're right about that. On the top picture on this post, the two little kittens might be too light to press the keys.
DeleteWho knows.......?
Autumn is my favorite season, maybe because my birth month is November and I feel a kinship with the changing colors and morning mists. I'm happy to read you are finally getting the treatment you have so patiently awaited, hopefully you are now on the path to recovery.
ReplyDeleteWe have lots of Autumn color already, sadly due to the Summer drought the leaves are dry and not as vibrant as many previous years.
Continued prayers sent your way.
Jo
People born in the autumn really do have a special kinship with it. I believe that.
DeleteI was born on December 13, which I consider winter - - but it is still is technically autumn. My mother and father were both born in autumn.
I'm hopeful that the radiation will help. And I'm praying that somehow I'll get back home.
Jon, thanks for this optimistic update and I hope that the radiation will take effect so you can get back to your home. A nice think about going to the treatments are that you get to be outdoors however briefly as Autumn is the bext seasonπππ
ReplyDeleteI haven't been outside in so long - - it was wonderful to see the sky and feel the gentle warmth of the sunshine.
DeleteI'm hoping the radiation will help....to get me home before autumn ends.
I'll keep updating.
Glad your Radiation is going well and I Hope it does stop the Bleeding and gives you some relief. I liked the Grape Lovers best of your Creative Art.
ReplyDeleteThe radiation seems to be going well, but sometimes it takes days or weeks to start working.
DeleteI like the Grape Lovers, too. There is something intriguing about crows and ravens.
Hi Jon.. lots of thoughts of you, I'm glad you're finally getting the radiation. I think my most favorite is the Echoes of Ghosts. It can have a couple of different meanings. Continuing my thoughts and good wishes. Hugs, Louise.
ReplyDeleteEchoes of Ghosts does have multiple meanimgs. Sometimes I have more fun making up titles than creating the pictures.
DeleteI'm relieved to finally have the radiation - but I hope it works. Thanks, Louise.
Very good news they are actually following through with you radiation. Even if only for a short while it has to be wonderful to get out of the building and into the world.
ReplyDeleteIt's extremely good to get outside, especially at this time of year. It is sunny and beautiful. I wish I could walk in the forest again.
DeleteI'm hoping the radiation will have positive effects.
Finally some treatment ! :)
ReplyDeleteDrink plenty of water and Gatorade Zero as my doctor recommended to me.
Love the illustrations, especially Halloween Mood.
Your picture of the abandoned house reminds me of one down the street from our apartment on Esplanade Street in Orange when I was a child.
The house was dark gray from being sunburnt, weatherbeaten and had its paint peeling off. A very elderly woman lived in the house who had a nurse and a house keeper visit her off and on. Neighborhood kids believed the old lady was a witch and that her dilapidated house was haunted!
She was actually a sweet lady and her family were among the first settlers in Orange. She said her family’s first home was a two room shack. We moved and then came back a couple of years later to the area and went to check on the old house, it had been torn down after the lady passed.
Best wishes Jon that you get back into your OWN home ! :)
When shit gets thrown at us we have to be tough as nails.

Elderly people often have fascinating true stories to tell. The old woman down the street in the delapidated house sounds like a similar place down the street in Corona when I was a young teen. It was a tiny wooden house and an old lady lived there. She was nearly 100 and was afraid of the night. She'd sit up looking out the window at night. When she died, the house was torn down.
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping to get back to my rural home....soon!
Oooh Jon, these AI creations are absolutely GORGEOUS!!!(BIG smile!)
ReplyDeleteI am so very happy to hear that your radiation treatments are FINALLY underway and happening! YES!
A VERY HAPPY AND BLESSED AUTUMAN TO YOU, MY FRIEND!!
(yes, I am still here and reading the blogs I follow as much as possible as I am back on unrelentless overtime - the company dropped the ball and had to scrap about 600,000 pieces of product because they left it in the warehouse too long in storage and parts dried out which is not good for a medical supplier!).
Take care and I will continue to check your latest posts!
Huge Hugs,
Kim
Hi, Kim, it's good to hear from you! So sorry that you have to work overtime. 600,000 pieces had to be scrapped - - wow!!
DeleteI'm finally getting radiation - - and I hope by some miracle it will work!
Can't believe it's sutumn already. The months fly by. I'm going to get home before Halloween.
