It's difficult photographing sunsets. If you use the camera flash it sometimes ruins them, and if you don't use it they often don't turn out at all. I use the flash and then try to edit the photos.
The world isn’t perfect by any means, Jon, but these sunsets were beautiful. Glad you still have your holiday lights still up as we do and I will miss them when they are taken down. They brighten our evenings and that is a great thing now. Best wishes to you for a happier new year, my blog friend. Glad you are still here in blog land.
Maybe something semi-autobiographic? Remembering your (security) close call with the mad man; and I'm sure you've plenty of other material you've not told us about. :)
These photos are truly a feast for the eyes! There is something magical, and something comfortable too, about a sunrise and a sunset. I suppose it is the promise of new beginnings - no matter how bad or uncertain they may seem.
And, hopefully, a whole day of beautiful winter sun in between those two sets of photos! Is the sun very low in your part of the world during the winter? Here it is, and the long shadows even at midday can create beautiful shadows.
Beautiful photos! I love sunsets but can never capture them very well.

DeleteDear Jon, stunning photos! There should be voices singing in that morning light...yes, upon listening carefully, I hear them.
ReplyDeleteThe rising sun appears at the base of the trees like a ball of fire. I always love to hear the songs of birds welcoming the day.
DeleteThose last two, especially, are amazing.
ReplyDeleteThe very last one is my favorite - it's so dramatic.

ReplyDeleteThe beauty of nature often revives my weary soul - and the colored lights make everything seem more festive, especially in cold winter weather.
DeleteThere will never be an artist equal to our creator. Those winter sunset photos are breathtaking Jon, a bright spot in a dark time.♥️Susan
ReplyDeleteSusan, there are so many dark times lately that we need all the bright spots we can get. God's paint brush helps immensely.
DeleteBeautiful! I think these sunrise images lend themselves to a well-written thriller. Are you up to that genre?
ReplyDeleteMyra, I don't think my weary brain could conceive a well-written thriller, but those sunset photos are indeed inspiring.

DeleteAnd what a day it was.
ReplyDeleteThe beginning and end of the days are always the best times, but - of course - I prefer the lure of the night...

ReplyDeleteI never get tired of seeing a sunrise or sunset - they are indeed magical and extremely soothing and inspiring. Definitely a visual feast.

ReplyDeleteThe sun is surprisingly low here in the winter. It never rises above the trees.
DeleteOMG! These pics are unbelievable! Gorgeous colors!
ReplyDeleteThe dark trees look so dramatic against the gorgeous sky. Kind of like Halloween.
