MAY, WHERE ARE YOU?

I awoke this morning to the foreboding sound of howling winds. The fragile windows rattled in its wake and an unseasonable cold chill penetrated my vulnerable bedroom.

I shivered under the covers, snuggling closer to my cat Bosco, and wondered "Where is May?"

I was shivering last November in this rural Tennessee purgatory and - nearly half a year later - I'm still shivering.
Does the cursed cold ever end?
Will I perhaps begin to thaw out in July? August, maybe?

The eternal cold is the very least of my problems - the ugly bulk of which would taint the fabricated purity of this blog. I'm desperately depressed and hanging on by a slender thread, more fragile than a disconsolate spider's web.

Despite battling insurmountable obstacles, I still have an admirably uncanny way with words.
And if you dig deeply enough through the mire, you'll find my irresistible charm.

Photos taken this First Day of May:

An eternal sea of weeds, thorns, and some sort of blossoms.

On a brighter side
(and not a moment too soon)

BTW -

Thank you to the four people who liked my piano video in my previous post. You have incredibly good taste and can recognize a genius when you see one.

Am I being bitterly sarcastic?
Naw, I wouldn't even think of it.......

                                     Cheers, Jon

  1. I also watched the piano piece, Jon. You're quite the piano player! I'm sorry life is hard for you now, I know life can be tough.
I'm sure that your neck of the woods will warm up soon enough. Spring as come in all it's leaves and flowers here, the snow is gone.
Take care, I wish you the best.

    1. Thanks for your kind and encouraging thoughts, Mike. I hope you are doing well and enjoying the beauty of spring.
Hopefully it will eventually warm up here in TN!

  2. We are having unseasonably cooler May weather than years previously, the wind is atrocious and biting.
Hold onto your hat, this being Tennessee, the weather will surely change in the next day or so.
Love seeing all the greenery and blue skies in your neck of the woods.
Glad to know Bosco is a snuggling companion.
    Stay warm !

    1. The weather changes are definitely like a roller coaster - - warm one day and freezing the next. Unfortunately, the numerous late frosts killed many of the blossoms.
Bosco is a huge cat and he definitely helps warm up my bed!

  3. Looks beautiful there! Our snow is almost gone and the grass is just starting to turn green! Spring is here...probably. ;) Hang in there.

    1. I'm glad to hear your snow is finally melting. I always thought Tennessee was a mild, southern state - but it can sometimes be brutal. I live in the far "north" - about five miles from the Kentucky border.

  4. We have had nothing BUT freaken RAIN for the past two weeks here and the temps are unseasonably COLD! I think whatever May flowers were blooming for April have drowned in the constant downpours.

Yes, all kidding aside you are indeed charming, dear Jon!

    1. We are getting an enormous amount of rain, too. I've been spoiled from living in California and Texas. I'm not used to be freezing in May!
I'm one of the very few people who appreciates my charm (*smile*)

  5. Those clouds seen out your front porch look angry. (Or at least peevish.) I've given up deciding what to wear, but still keep my heavy sweater at the ready. While our rains have abated, the weeds are flourishing. As are my allergies. Am I the only human on the planet who dreads the arrival of Spring?

    1. This spring weather is infuriating. It was 80 degrees two weeks ago and now I'm freezing. I took the winter blankets off my bed and I need them again. The erratic temperatures are physically devastating for me. Spring can be a nightmare....

  6. Jon, you short-changed yourself as there were actually 5 of us who commented on your last musical post! And, yes, you do have a great ability both with your playing and with word play. It's been a week of rain and more rain here, but the cloud formations have been wonderful. Here's hoping things warm up in both our areas...and soon.

    1. It's difficult to keep track of my "fans". I keep forgetting whether there are four or five (*smile*).
It's still chilly here, in the low 30s at night and there's a lot of rain. Warmer weather is predicted for next week...and I can't wait!

    2. Missouri has decided to skip May and June and go right into July... with no rain ever.

    3. I would gladly welcome July.

I love comments. Go ahead and leave one - I won't bite. But make sure you have a rabies shot just in case.
