After a brief duration, my favorite month has rudely vanished with no apologies. Today is Halloween. Spirits haunting me with fond memories.
This post has no plan or purpose. Just fleeting thoughts from a weary mind. I got up early, but strong coffee hasn't served to awaken me.
The weather is very mild. Breezy with a chance of rain.
I have no extraordinary plans for today - - but I do plan on having pizza, apple cider, and pumpkin pie. I should have made my infamous homemade wine, but I wasn't in the mood.
Fortunately, I don't have to worry about trick or treaters. My location is so remote that they'd never find me.
How about starting off with a video? I made this a few years ago. One of my favorites.
And an assortment of mostly uninteresting photos.
I went out early on the front porch. Everything looked bland because the sun hadn't yet risen above the trees.
Finally sunshine began illuminating the foliage.
Whenever I photograph my bedroom window I only show the lower half. Here's the entire window....breathtakingly exciting...
Awesome post! As always, I especially love your autumn pics - they never fail to capture the sentiment I feel this time of the year.
ReplyDeleteVintage Halloween decorations are always THE BEST as well! Perhaps my recent true ghost story I posted last night will put a little smile on your face today? I never posted this story before on my blog or anywhere else for that matter because it happened so many years ago, but I remember it as if it were only yesterday.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN,MY FRIEND!!!
Big Hugs, Kim
I wish that I could walk through the forest to take photos like I used to. Well, I suppose the front "yard" isn't too bad.
DeleteI love vintage Halloween decor. Most of them are packed away in the garage.
I read your true ghost story and it was creepy. That spirit was really trying to get your attention!
I love, love, love, LOVE the pumpkin mug. That's just begging for a pumpkin spice latte.
ReplyDeleteI like that pumpkin mug, too. I bought it in Texas but can't remember exactly where.
DeleteYou live in a lovely place. All the views are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteIt's always a joy to be surrounded by the beauty of nature.
DeleteIt sounds like your son is doing ok and I'm glad to hear that!
Happy Hallows my dear friend!!!! I hope no un-welcomed bumps in the night.
ReplyDeleteIf they're sexy spirits....I'd welcome them. Have a wonderfully haunting Halloween!
DeleteLuv your knick knacks for Halloween.
ReplyDeleteMay a succubus be on its way :)
-Rj
I have a lot more Halloween knick knacks but they're all packed away.
Delete(that's funny - - I'll be waiting)
I remember that video ... so fun! I hope you thoroughly enjoy that pizza ... the pie, too. I'm glad to hear you're contemplating making another batch of homemade wine. Red or white?
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you remembered the video (you seem to be the only one).
DeleteWell, I ate an entire pizza (!!!) so I"m saving the pie for later.
Red wine. The last time I made white wine it didn't turn out too good.
Oh, there's my clock!!!! You made my Halloween, Jon. Thank you so much for posting it!
ReplyDeleteLove the other Halloween decorations, too. A warm-ish and very windy Halloween here
in NE Ohio. I think there might be some high wind warmings out, too. Perfect for Halloween night! Now, if it was a little cooler, it'd be perfect. Your pizza and the pumpkin pie sound great. Enjoy! Don't let the goblins get you....unless they look like Brandon de Wilde! You need a couple kitties to protect you out there! Thanks again for the clock!
Paranormal John
I guess it wouldn't be Halloween without my spooky clock. It's warm and breezy here. It was 81 degrees today. I agree, it should be cooler for Halloween.
DeleteBTW I watched the Thriller
"Pigeons From Hell" late last night on YouTube. It was really creepy and atmospheric - - a good way to start Halloween. Tonight I'm going to watch "The Storm".
And I'll be on the lookout for Brandon *smile*
I'm glad you saw 'Pigeons from Hell'. Yes, keep an eye out for Bandon....one never knows what these ghosties are up to. It could be a FUN Halloween! Thanks again for the pic of the clock.
DeleteParanormal John
thecontemplativecat here. Where in the world did you find that video?? You really nailed Halloween.
ReplyDeleteI found the music "The Halloween Dance" on YouTube (written in 1908). I liked it, so I decided to make a video using old cartoon clips and a few other things. I had a lot of fun creating it.
DeleteThanks!
Where did you get the Halloween themed cups? I've not seen ones like that, love them.
ReplyDeleteIt's snowing, not unusual here, doesn't keep the kiddy's out, Butte is used to weather.
My best memory of this day was decades ago, 1984, the oldest made a refrigerator box into a 'fortune telling machine', couple holes, one to receive candy, one to dispense 'fortunes'...she wrote them herself, most were like "Nobody likes you", or "I'll health awaits" ect. She's a bit too much like one of her parents.
Cheers, Jon.
The Halloween mugs and dishes came from Target , but I got them long ago - about 15 years.
DeleteI only experienced one Halloween with snow when I lived in Springfield, MO. It was only a light snow and very rare.
The homemade Fortune Telling Machine sound like something I would have liked.
Thanks, Mike.
Ta vidéo est créative :)
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteEnjoyed the Halloween dance and your clock and decorations. A belated Happy Halloween! Take care, Sheila
ReplyDeleteHalloween is my favorite time of year, so I'm going to extend it for awhile.
DeleteThank you, Sheila!
Jon, I absolutely love your Halloween clock and your dishes! It’s lovely up in Tennessee thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Gabrielle. Rural Tennessee is really lovely - - and Halloween is my favorite time of year.
