You just know this is going to be a crappy blog post when it's titled Sunday.
If you want to read something good, check out my previous post Texas Night Revisited.
On second thought - don't!
My flowery essays and piano videos always get the least (and most tepid) responses.
Strangely enough - when I posted a half-naked photo of Peter Berlin
I got lots of positive responses.
Even the middle-aged Church Ladies liked it.
Just wait until I finish writing my x-rated memoir. You're gonna love it
(more about this in my next post).
Actually, it won't be "x-rated". But it will zizzle.
April is nearly over and I didn't accomplish a thing. The month was a jumble of rainy days, chilly nights, wicked winds, poor health, and anxiety attacks.
Yesterday I finally prepared my Easter ham. It's delicious and will last a long time (if the cats don't confiscate it).
I know you're eager to see my ham.
I had asparagus and yams to go with it today.
I know you'll be even more thrilled to see my "yard" - which has turned green over night. The wasps and bees are extremely aggressive this year, making it difficult to go outside.
The incessant rains have encouraged the "weeds" to grow into raging monsters. Some of the brush is already over four feet high. My disgust knows no bounds.
All these photos were taken from my back porch.
I let the cats out on the back porch this morning to enjoy the sunshine.
Bosco with a rake
Kitzee, on an ancient rug left by the previous owners.
Tom would LOVE that ham. Me, not so much, but asparagus is a favorite.
ReplyDeleteSo, is that rake to ward off snakes? Since the vacant lot next door is already knee high … and someone reported having seen a copperhead, I've been busy scattering moth balls against the fence line and under the storage buildings. I'm so concerned one of the dogs will go sticking her nose where it doesn't belong.
'Looking forward to sizzling by proxy!
"Sizzling by proxy" - - I like that!
DeleteI use that rake to bang on the roof late at night when the animals are scurrying on it (no, I'm not kidding).
When it comes to copperheads, to heck with the mothballs. Get a shotgun!
Keep a very close eye on the doggies.
And now that the yard is green...the War of the Weeds will commence. Or do you have triffids down there attacking?
ReplyDeleteHeck, the whole place is reminiscent of something from H.G.Wells.
DeleteThe only thing I don't have (yet) are dinosaurs.
Hi, things are suddenly so green
ReplyDeleteNot only green, but also buggy.....

ReplyDeleteYou surprise me, Jon. I always feel a certain envy when I pop onto your blog, I yearn for nature, for music, for lightheartedness. Thank you.
I'm always too self-critical and full of complaints - - but sweet people (like yourself) make it all worthwhile.
DeleteLooking upward like in your photos it is glorious down there. The wall of weeds, not so much. Looks like the cats are enjoying the heat! :)
ReplyDeleteIt's in the 80's this week and it is wonderful not to be freezing. I like everything here but the weeds and the bugs - but I suppose they're part of the ambience.
DeleteHey hey now... this middle aged church going lady likes ALL your blog posts, not just the half naked guys- although I have to say - he was a plus!!! Your nature pics are awesome- thanks for sharing!!
ReplyDeleteLouise, your kind comment made me smile - - and, trust me, I don't smile easily lately.
DeleteIt's harder to feel bad when the land is bursting into Spring. Or at least I feel that. But then I am a Spring person. It's all green outside here but the temperature strikes as if they have fierce air conditioning on.
ReplyDeleteSpring is a very emotionally satisfying time of year. Today is so unseasonably warm that it feels like summer.
