THE END OF AN ERA

( 1926 - 2022)

Queen Elizabeth II passed away today at the age of 96, leaving the remarkable legacy of a seventy-year reign.

She was one of the very few people left whom I genuinely admired and respected. She was blessed with dignity, grace, stability, and a profound sense of duty.

Her passing marks the end of an era.
There will never be another like it.

  1. I can't imagine my life without Her Majesty on the throne. She was a remarkable lady throughout her reign, gracious, and dedicated to her subjects and love of her country.
    My heart is broken.
    Rip Ma'am.

    1. It seemed that she was invincible and would be with us forever. At least her legacy will live on.

  2. Every world leader could and should takes notes on how to be a ruler from her. She rans circles around all of them, even at 96. No one has her grace, class, dignity and dedicated to a country and its people. What a lady.

    1. I agree completely. She was a rare gem and others paled in comparison.

  3. Completely AGREE! There was always something about her "presence" that gave me such respect and admiration for her. She WAS the model other leaders should aspire to be in reality!

    1. I seriously doubt that there would ever be another monarch like her. She was an absolute treasure. And she never volunteered to be Queen - - fate bestowed it upon her.

  4. I never thought a lot about her either way until I watched the public television show about her last year. I don't know how closely they stayed with the truth, but it made me really like and respect her.

    1. I'm sure that most portrayals of the Queen are whitewashed - eliminating her flaws - but she did lead an exemplary life with extraordinary grace, dignity, and genuine sincerity.

  5. Stunned -- and a bit surprised at my own sadness at her passing. Ever since the Diana debacle I've had mixed feeling about Elizabeth. Maybe it's her seeming lack of warmth I found off-putting. I don't know, but I did enjoy hearing how her relationship with Philip was a true Love Story.

    1. I'm certain that the Queen had mixed emotions about Diana, and didn't understand what she was going through. As much as I liked the Queen, I can never have any respect for Charles and Camilla - who intentionally destroyed Diana. They are selfish and cold-hearted, with absolutely no remorse.

  6. I agree, Jon, in that the late queen was a remarkable woman in so many ways. What I enjoyed reading about was her sense of humor, which was reportedly quite good. And, as you and others have noted there will definitely be another ruler of such longevity who was also as well respected and admired, even if not all the time, but then no one is perfect.

I love comments. Go ahead and leave one - I won't bite. But make sure you have a rabies shot just in case.
