JUST TESTING

Just testing to see if you're awake and alert.

Actually, I'm testing my new cell phone to  see how the camera/video works. I know next to nothing about technology and dislike cell phones - but thought I'd give it a try.

The visuals aren't spectacular, because I have an inexpensive phone. I only need a cell phone for texting and emergencies - - like if I'm suddenly accosted by Bigfoot when I wander outside.
It took awhile for me to figure out how to transfer things from phone to computer (it's not as easy as with my old El Cheapo digital camera).

I'm admittedly fifty years behind the times.

My very first cell phone photos: Bosco, next to me in bed last night.
And my first (very brief) cell phone video. It's really crappy but I was just experimenting.

A quick glimpse of back yard and living room - - and Kitzee on the bed.

At the end of the video Bosco walks directly in front of the camera and takes Kitzee (and me) by surprise.

  1. That was fun to see your living room! That coffee table is really pretty. I hope you’re enjoying your new ‘toy.’

    1. That coffee table belonged to my parents. It was handmade by a craftsman in Odessa, Texas. I didn't have the heart to get rid of it.

  2. LOL, Kitzee seems rather undeterred by Bosco's visit - what cuties! Yes I am also behind the times. I do not even own a cell phone - used to with the idea of only using it for emergencies but never really used it much anyhow to make it worth the expense so I got rid of it years ago.

The video is not bad at all honestly. Seems like a nice camera.

    1. I really don't want a cell phone, but I figured it's best to have one since I'm all alone here in the boonies. I'll probably use it to take more videos.

  3. Hey tootes....it all looks pretty good!!! The second cat picture is pretty clear too. I would say keep playing with the phone....you'll get more familiar over time. My phone even has several different filters to give pictures a different feel. I can see you getting into that eventually. It s cool. Even My mother at 77 got a smart phone. She's pretty good, even though I have no idea what the text messages say, it's like Helen Keller texted them. God love mother.

    1. I've noticed that my phone camera has some filter features, too. I'll eventually try them.
I laughed at your Helen Keller text quip! I hate texting, but I keep in touch with a few people just to assure them I'm still alive...

  4. You will be using this new phone all the time soon, I bet. You have had great success right off the bat. :)

    1. Life was much more simple without all this technology, but I think you're right. I'll probably be using the phone camera/video quite often.

  5. Neat! I, too, love that coffee table. Funny! -- Exactly the same time Bosco made his cameo appearance, the weather alert (a siren) on my cell phone went off. Ya, I jumped!

Say, could you make your next video a 'talkie' so we can hear your voice? (Please.)

    1. It's amazing that Bosco activated your weather alert siren. Seriously, I hope there's no severe weather in your area.

I promise that I'll eventually talk in one of my videos. I muted the sound on this one. When I was filming the living room, Bosco squeezed in the partially open front door (he was out on the porch) and it squeaked REALLY loud. I'll have to oil it...

    1. I do plan to make future videos of my incredibly boring life. I was very hesitant to reveal my experience with the haunted eight ball, because I knew it would render some people speechless...(*smile*)

  7. Good luck with the new phone, Jon. It seems you are off to a good start and it was great seeing some of the indoor photos. What a great grandfather (?) clock. Is there a history behind it? I know you often post about the wilderness that is your back yard, but it did look like a lovely day in the video. BTW I have a cell phine and don’t use all its capabilities after many years, so you have lots of learning time to go😉

    1. The grandfather clock is from Germany. I bought it about twenty years ago as a gift for my mother. It's one of my favorite things.

I think Indian summer has arrived. It was in the 50s last week and now it's in the 70s. The weather has been lovely. Some of the foliage is just starting to turn in the back yard.
It will probably take me years to figure out everything on the cell phone.

  8. My first cell phone picture was of my black cat! :) The cameras are very good in the new phones, but still can't make me any sort of photographer.

    1. There's something special about black cats...mysterious and unique...

I like the cell phone camera, but I still think it's much easier to use my old Kodak Easy Share.

    2. I've probably told you this, but my first digital camera was the Kodak Easy Share and I took some fabulous photos with it. I liked it better than any camera I've had since.

    3. I agree completely. I've had my Easy Share for a very long time and like it better than any other camera.

I love comments. Go ahead and leave one - I won't bite. But make sure you have a rabies shot just in case.
