GOODBYE EASTER, HELLO WINTER

A few days ago, when it was 70 degrees and I was admiring the fledgling spring blossoms, I said to myself (and anyone else who would listen):

This mild weather won't last. The blossoms will be killed by a late frost.

Today (Wednesday, I think) it's only 40 degrees and hard frosts are predicted for the next two nights.

Welcome to April.

I always thought Tennessee was a mild southern state. Instead, I'm in friggin' Siberia.
Peter Cottontail is suffering frostbite.....and I'm considering moving to Mexico (there should be plenty of room south of the border - since they are now ALL migrating here).

Notice how I cunningly make use of any situation to editorialize?

Icy mountain roads and frigid winter fog. I might have to scrap my plan for driving to town this week. Perhaps I can go in July....

I appreciated your comments on my previous post - and I always feel guilty when I don't respond to them. I'm lazy, but with good intentions.

  1. Hey, cowboy! Sorry to hear you're in for some more frigid weather, but hopefully, this'll be winter's last gasp. Hang in there.

    1. Hey, it's always good to hear from you. I hope you're doing great - and hopefully spring isn't going to bring you any surprise frosts.

    2. It was a little on the frosty side last night, so I guess I'm gonna have to restrain myself from doing any planting just yet. I did a bunch of prep work, so the gardens are ready... so am I... weather? Not quite, but soon.

      Take care, cowboy. Happy Easter!

  2. Brrr! We have strangle temps still here as well - but so far no more talk of snow or freezing rain. On the other hand, we have been known to have snow storms in April, so .... who knows?

Stay safe and warm with the kitties!!

    1. Every time I see a spring blossom in Tennessee, I know that a killer frost isn't far behind. I hope you're feeling better - and enjoying mild temperatures.

    2. Yes, I am getting there - feeling better with the meds. Thank you, Jon! Have a good one!

  3. You should know, every year, the Winter Queen never surrenders her throne and reign over as quickly as her sisters, Spring, Summer and Autumn......

    1. Winter is reluctant to leave, but we'll do our best to get rid of it. When I lived in the Missouri Ozarks it snowed one Easter, but that was rare.

I have a hard time staying calm.....but drinking tea always helps.

  5. What an April Fool's non-joke Mother Nature is playing on your area, Jon. Thankfully, all we have today is a lot of rain and that's OK with me except for the chilly temps which are still not as awful as winter temps.

    1. I had completely forgotten that today is April Fools Day. Mother Nature certainly did play a joke on Tennessee. It was in the 20s last night - but I still see some blossoms on the trees, so perhaps there is hope....

  6. Yep, same here! I'm convinced Mother Nature is bi-polar.
I love REAL Mexican food, but to live there? No-thank-you-very-much. Besides, I might bump into my cousin 😡 who made good on her promise to leave the country if Trump was elected.

    1. I'm trying to decide whether your cousin really left the country, or are you pulling an April Fools joke on me. Despite my dubious reputation, I'm charmingly gullible.
      Mother Nature is DEFINITELY bi=polar.

    2. Nope, she really did. I un-friended her on FB but sometimes lurk to see if anything changed.

    3. Any Trump hater deserves to be in Mexico.

  7. Yep! Frost here in Iowa. Good thing I didn't plant those flowers like I was itchin' to do three days ago. I'm not sure I would like Mexico. Although I do dislike people in general. And there should be very few of them there now that they are being trucked in as a Democratic Voting block. Probably California or New York. ...Opps... Did I just go off on a tangent? I mean to say: " It is cold in Iowa too!"

    1. My prediction is that Mexico will be completely empty within a year - now that we have open borders and are encouraging illegals to come over and join the Demorats (oops, I mean "crats").
The older I get, the more I dislike people (although I admittedly disliked some even when I was a child).

  8. My daughter in Ohio got snow today and she had to explain to everyone that it wasn't an April Fool's joke. I always thought that Tennessee was a mild winter/hot summer state. I feel stupid.

    1. Hopefully the snow in Ohio won't last long. It really does seem like an April Fool joke. I never knew the winters were so long in TN...

  9. Lovely warm day today, we were lazing in the sun. Tomorrow it is scheduled to be 2 deg above freezing. Must be a worldwide thing. Happy Easter!
