First of all, many thanks to the people who were concerned about my safety. I consider myself fortunate.
The information that I gave in my previous post needs to be updated. The tornado outbreak that happened on Dec. 10/11 is now reported to be the largest in U.S. history - - at least 30 tornadoes in five states.
The largest tornado traveled 600 miles in a span of eleven hours. Over 100 known dead in Kentucky alone. Many people are still unaccounted for. Thousands lost everything they own.
Many videos of the storm devastation are available on YouTube. I randomly chose one. The damage is completely astounding.

The victims are in our hearts and prayers. Jon
It's all heartbreaking at this time of year. Im glad you were safe. My other friend that lives in Dixon seemed to have been spared several times this year alone between tornados and floods. As well as my cousin in Chattanooga.
ReplyDeleteThank you again for this update, Jon. I hope you'll forgive if I can't bring myself to watch right now. I hope you glean some measure of comfort, realizing how many of us care for you and about you.
ReplyDelete"There but for the grace of God go I". . . . . . How true that statement is today after those devastating tornadoes that tore through those five midwestern states. I'm not religious at all (my "God" quote was generic) but my thoughts and prayers (I don't pray) DO go with those who have lost so much and are now suffering. Thank goodness you were spared Jon. And your pets. I heard reports of "dogs and cats" flying in the air. How horrible.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the update, Jon, and good to know you were safe although as you said watching the videos is heartbreaking. The loss of life and such destruction is hard at any time, but compounded with it happening at what is considered a joyous holiday.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday. Glad you are safe.
ReplyDeleteDevastating!
