The first day of March was a balmy 80 degrees and gentle as a lamb.
Two days later - Friday the 3rd - a restless lion appeared out of nowhere and roared like the devil.
My area of rural Tennessee was pummeled by the wrath of nature. A high wind warning was in effect all day (70 M.P.H. "gusts") and a severe storm warning, accompanied with a tornado watch. There were four power outages - - fairly brief in duration but annoying, nevertheless.
The day was foul, furious, and dangerous. The raging wind toppled several nearby forest trees. This perpetuated my foremost fear. The fragile shack that I live in is surrounded by tall trees. If any of them fell on my "house", it would be completely pulverized and I........would be toast.
The wind warning was supposed to subside by sunset, but raged on for several more hours. I couldn't breath a feeble sigh of relief until things calmed down by midnight.
My energy was completely sapped. All I wanted to do was crawl into bed and sleep. unfortunately, the insolent indoor mice and strange animals scurrying on the roof kept waking me up all night.
This rural life in squalor has completely destroyed me. I'm still plagued by multitudinous problems, but have decided not to detail them in my blog posts. What's the use? My blog readership has dwindled from approximately 800 "views" a day to a recent 95 views a day.
Well;, at least a few kind souls still visit my blog to see if I'm still alive.
I keep trying to convince myself that I'm still kicking.
My previous post - all about tea - was probably boring, but at least it wasn't tainted with my complaints.
Anyway, thanks for being here. I'll try to make my future posts complaint-free (not an easy endeavor.....)
Jon
The storm clouds, finally subsiding near dusk
Funny how beautiful nature can look after raging at us. What a sunset!
ReplyDeleteI never look at my stats on blogger. I do appreciate my handful of commenters but I know there are lurkers, too. I'm glad when anyone stops by, I guess.
I shivered when I saw the pictures of the recent blizzard on your blog. It made our storm seem insignificant. My blog has a lot of lurkers, too. I suppose they're reluctant to comment. I seem to leave some people speechless (*smile*).
DeleteIt sounds like you got what we were experiencing the day before. With vigor (channeling JFK). I love how you've captured the peace that surpasses all understanding in that last image.
ReplyDeleteThese frequent storms only serve to increase my problems and perpetuate stress. I was hoping there would be a rainbow after this recent storm - but the beautiful sunset was satisfying enough.
DeleteYes, the weather most definitely has been ROUGH this year! Winter really needs to GO already! COME ON SPRING!!
ReplyDeleteThat image is so PERFECT!!
I hate winter more than anything. I'm ready to do a spring dance.
DeleteOh, and I also wanted to say that I love that Siesta photo on your side bar!
ReplyDeleteHey, I'm glad you noticed! That's one of my favorite photos - - it was taken in Texas.
DeleteLots of wind here in southern Delaware too Jon. A few years ago one of the huge branches of the three river birches I have near my bedroom just missed crashing down on same bedroom when a mini tornado tore through our back yard. There's alway something; flooding, forest fires, or hurricanes. We live in perilous times. Stay well my friend.
ReplyDeleteI remember when that mini tornado hit your property. It's so fortunate that it didn't clobber your house. The weather seems to be very unstable everywhere this year. You never know what Mother Nature will do next.
DeleteBlog about whatever you want to, Jon, because this is your personal space. The decision on whether or not to read and comment is up to others. We all have our share of issues and granted yours are more serious than most others, but if venting helps you get by then do whatever works. Fellow bloggers, including myself, will still he here and lurkers/spammers are a nuisance I deal with as well.
ReplyDeleteWhat a glorious sunset yiu captured after those winds died down.
Your thoughtfulness is always appreciated. Thanks!
