SPRING IS HERE

I've decided to celebrate the first day of spring by inflicting some springtime music upon you.

Rustle of Spring (Fruhlingsrauschen) op.32
by Norwegian composer Christian Sinding (1856 - 1941)

Sinding maintained that the constant motion of this piano piece is symbolic of the restlessness of spring.

I think that it depicts a breeze rustling through the trees.

This is a unedited, unrefined rehearsal tape that I made when I lived in Texas.

Welcome to spring, mes amis.

  1. "I've decided to celebrate the first day of spring by inflicting some springtime music upon you." I was relived it was your lovely serenade on the piano and not from last night's dinner of baked beans. This gave me a great listen while I was reading emails tootes. Beautiful and thank you for sharing it.

    1. Glad you enjoyed it. I try to keep the baked beans out of my repertoire....

  2. More, More, she shouts. I did a few twirls as I listened.

This first day of spring has come in with a vengeance the sun is shining, the temperature has risen, and it's warm. What a difference to yesterday.

    1. If I managed to make you twirl, I consider my performance a success.

  3. If I must bid adieu to Winter (sad face), your performance makes the turning of the calendar seem almost enjoyable!

    1. I think I'll have to move farther south..... I'll be delighted to see winter go (if it ever does).

  4. ' Rustle of Spring' really does depict a breeze rustling through the trees. I felt that - along with songbirds happily chirping away. Nice piece. Well done.

On a side note there's this 13 yr. old Indian boy ( pianist ) who just won 1 million on a television show called ... The World's Best. He blew me away with his talent at such a young age. He's probably on You Tube if you'd like to check him out. Lydian Nadhaswaram is his name.

    Happy Spring, Jon !

    1. I just checked Lydian out on YouTube and he is truly amazing. His increasing tempos for the "Flight of the Bumblebee" are breathtaking.

    1. Thanks, Jenny! Unfortunately spring hasn't arrived here yet - - no flowers or blossoms. But I'm hopeful....

  6. Thank you, dear sir! What a lovely way to usher in the new season.

Not that it feels like spring. A couple weeks ago, it was 75 degrees, but that was just a teaser. When I went outside to pick up the newspaper on the so-called first morning of spring, there was frost on the windshields. My brother was in town for a visit earlier this week, and we went to the zoo. It was too cool for most of the animals to even show their faces. BUT... the temperatures are slowly starting to rise again. We'll be bellyaching about the heat before ya know it.

    1. Last year the late frosts killed all the blossoms. I'm REALLY hoping that doesn't happen again. Last night there was frost and the daytime high was only in the low 50's.

  7. Sunny day here. After cyclone warnings for Butte, Colusa and most central valley counties. I have no idea where spring is, but I expect it as a matter of faith.

    1. Also, since comments are closed on your next post, I wanted to say that the 5th photo down looks like Bosco gave Scratch his shadow and walked off without it. Cats have little regard for physics.

I love comments. Go ahead and leave one - I won't bite. But make sure you have a rabies shot just in case.
