15 QUESTIONS, 15 ANSWERS

 Fifteen "questions" from Sunday Stealing

1. Five problems with social media

An extraordinary waste of valuable time

Gives cowardly bullies a chance to perpetuate their hate behind the safe guise of anonymity

fake news, lies, and erroneous information abounds

insignificant, unintelligent nobodies have a chance to become cyber stars

unreality usurps reality

2. A place you would like to live, but have never visited

There's no way I'd ever want to live in a place that I haven't visited, but I'll play along. How about somewhere in the Alps?

3. Someone who fascinates you and why

I tend to fascinate myself.

4. Do you have tattoos?  What are they and why?

Yea, I have SEMPER FIDELIS tattooed on my ass. Hundreds have seen it.

But seriously, I almost considered getting a tattoo long ago. Then I decided that I didn't want a drug-induced ex-hippie drawing a picture on my flesh with an unsterilized needle in indelible ink.

5. A book you love, and one you didn’t.

I love too many books to mention.

I hated A Separate Peace by John Knowles, which is the most boring and pointless novel ever written.

6. A fruit you dislike, and why

I love almost all fruit - but I'd probably stay away from the rambutan, kumquat, and annona muricata.

7. Two words/phrases that make you laugh

Liberal Democrat

8. A quote you try to live by

It would take a helluva lot more than a quote to sustain me.

9. Something you miss

My youth, my health,
Life as it was long ago when things seemed normal and rational,
All the people I loved who are now deceased.

10. Three weird traits you have

What - only three?

11. What you wore today

Sweat pants, a sweatshirt, and slippers.

12. Word/phrase you use constantly

"Unnerving" and "absolutely".
If you don't believe it - read some of my blog posts.

13. One thing you’re excited for

Lately I don't get excited very easily. What are we talking about? Sex? Ice Cream? Concertos by Rachmaninov?

14. Your feelings on ageism

Ageism is the biggest, most cruel joke that God bestowed upon us. Anyone who says life gets better with age is full of rat crap.

15. Three interesting facts about yourself

I'm absolutely full of.......interesting facts.

I earned three belts in Judo when I was thirteen years old (no, I am not kidding)

I performed a piano concerto with orchestra when I was twenty.

I (unknowingly) worked the midnight shift alone with a murderer (serial killer) when I was a security officer in Southern California.

  1. I love when you participate in these kinds of Q-and-A, Jon. A few, in particular, delight me. (Bet you can guess which ones.) We had to read A Separate Piece in high school. There's little I can recall about the story line -- yet it's the only required reading I can remember.

  2. Excellent post, Jon! So freaking enjoyed this Q & A about you seriously! Like Mevely, I'll bet you can guess which answers amused me the most ("liberal democrats" HA HA HA HA HA HA - YUP!!!

I have to admit that I had to google the meaning of your so-called "tattoo" (SEMPER FIDELIS) - OMG - hilarious! Made me laugh! (See? I learned something I never would have thought to learn before.) lol

  3. I enjoy reading these although I don't normally do them. I learn much about people by doing so. The Golden Years are a fiasco.

  4. Tattoos will forever keep me out of certain "groups" that want to define themselves with graffiti scribbled across their nether-parts. Your reasoning is sane and logical. Which makes sense that you have no ink to brag about either. Personally, there is never anything I want to permanently stamp on my flesh either.

  5. Dear Jon, I sure enjoyed this post. Two main points of difference are: #15, a simple number reversal I use to discourage Ageist attackers --I earned 13 Judo belts when I was 3 (Yes, I am kidding); the other regards #6, Annona Muricata disappointed a much younger me deeply when she stood me up for a date at the Lodi Portuguese Graviola Festival --and called me a soursop! I met, courted and married Norma a few moments later, so it turned out ok.
