A JUSTIFICATION

Despite my better judgement, I'm going to repost my notorious post "It's Never Cold in Southern California." You'll find it right after this post.

I know some of you don't want to find it.

I'm not proud of my sordid past - - - but I have no intention of hiding it. I lived a lifestyle that is against God's laws, and the rational sensibilities of decent people.

My complicated psyche was using this lifestyle to escape from reality - - - and to quench my insatiable hunger for danger and adventure. I was extremely self-destructive.

Escape

I remember one night when I was so desperate to escape from my father's violence and abuse......I locked myself in the bathroom, grabbed a pair of scissors, and jabbed my wrist until it bled on the floor.

No ambulance. No doctor. I nursed my own wounds. Wrapped my wrist tightly. Tightly.

Escape

.....so it was booze, drugs, one nighters with strangers.....

Oh, about my notorious blog post - - -

How many of your Christmas Eves were as.....colorful.....as mine? Let's see.

I performed with a chamber ensemble at the Los Angeles Music Center on live television.

I met millionaire socialite Dorothy Chandler, who was responsible for building the music center.

Later I got drunk and high...wandering the streets of Hollywood...eventually going home with a stranger for sex.

Does that top any of your Christmas Eves?

I mentioned my Uncle Frank, who was involved with the Jersey mafia.

I mentioned Gregory, my lover, whose psycho mother wanted to destroy us.

I mention the night I was in a raid at the notorious Drake Theater.

Love me or hate me, you gotta admit I had an.......unconvential....colorful..... lifestyle.

"It's Never Cold in Southern California" is the post right below this one.

Jon, unapologetic

P.S.

One of my "anonymous" readers wants to hear more about my music (probably instead of my sordid life). I'll eventually write a post concerning my music. I promise.

  1. This is your anonymous commenter from the previous post. I’m not at all offended or shocked by your past, and I’m sorry if my comment gave you that impression. I read your blog mainly because I enjoy your sense of humor and writing style…you really could write about anything and I would read it. I am curious though about your path to becoming a musician, simply because you don’t talk about it much, and I have a personal interest in the topic. However, it’s your blog and you should obviously write about whatever makes you happy!
