A POSSIBILITY OF OPTIMISM

Where to begin?

I told you about my blazing charger cable, that burned my arm and nearly set my bed on fire. I put out the fire with my pillow. I only had that phone charger for a year.

I ordered a new one that will be delivered Friday. Well.....I discovered the local Walmart has them in stock, and I had one delivered this morning. Now I can charge my two phones and tablet.

I'm wasting time, I just saw some of you yawning and falling asleep.

I'm delighted that I recovered from the horrifying side effects that I wrote in a previous post. It was so bad, I truly thought I was going to die.

The culprit - - a strong muscle relaxer called baclofen. It has killed many elderly people.

Now I'm wearing an opiate pain patch (you can't win). No side effects, but I have a really bad cold....completely lost my sense of taste. Gave me a test - - I don't have Covid.

Trying to rest and keep my bad leg immobile.....

....so, we've had at least five power outages, which deflated my air mattress. This completely knocks my back out of line, causing AGONIZING PAIN. The worst one had the mattress completely deflated. I was lying on the metal mattress frame.

I kept pressing the call button. NOBODY came. I was on the bed frame for 45 minutes, at least. Finally, a young lady came in with the dinner tray. She reflated my mattress and saved me.

Well, that wasn't very uplifting.

How about this?

It's been snowing here in the mountains of rural Tennessee for two days. Nearly 15 degrees (Fahrenheit) last night. Daytime "high" today 28 degrees. Early winter.

Winter or not, the more I think about the freedom of going home, the more optimistic I become.

Yesterday (Monday) a huge miracle occurred.

Suddenly, without any notice, two people came into my room. They were from Quality Home Health Care - - the home nursing I previously had. They said when I go home, they want me to be with them again!

That would solve my worries about having home care. They said they would talk to the Dragon Lady. I said, "Careful, she bites."

I seldom hear from Hospice. They have given up with me. I will leave them soon....then I have the freedom to break away from Signature.

Not exactly easy, but I feel optimistic.....and the thought of independence and freedom is exhilarating.

Jon ❤️ possibly high hopes

I didn't edit this sorry for any typos, glitches....

Note:

As usual, my replies to comments aren't working again. I was here in physical therapy at least eight months. There were so many twisted complications, it would take many blog posts to attempt to explain. Insurance problems, VERY bad medical care, my continuous hemorrhaging arm due to a bad biopsy that nearly killed me. Whatever happens, it will be a JOY to escape from this toxic prison!

And yes, Quality Home Care offers in home physical therapy 😸

BEARS, CATS, KRAKATOAS

In my haphazard haste to write my previous blog post, I left some things out concerning my latest arm hemorrhage that happened late Sunday night or early Monday morning.

The bleeding was so heavy that the nurses had to rebandage three times. As soon as they thought the task was done, the bandages were blood-soaked.

When I speak of hemorrhages, I am not exaggerating.

On Tuesday, the wound care doctor was alarmed when she heard the news. There is now an order stating that if this happens again, I should be immediately taken to Cookeville Medical Center.

Finally some sense of logic.

I am well known here at Signature Health Care for my poetry books and hemorrhages.

My right arm is numb due to the tight heavy bandages. I hate to write comments on your blogs because every damn word is a mistake. I type slowly and carefully on this blog. Slowly.

Rumor Hazzit is that I have an appointment with a surgeon in Cookeville on Tuesday the 12th. I'll believe it when I see it. If it's true, I have a strong feeling the surgeon will say nothing can be done for my arm.......

change of subject, sort of

Long ago, when I was Satan's advocate, there was a very popular gay bar called Rumor Hazzit in Garden Grove, CA.

Don't panic. All I did was sit in there, looking pretty, smoking Krakatoas and drinking King Cobra or Hurricane. Those were the days.

Krakatoa clove cigarettes. They're now illegal in the U.S. Considered dangerous. Evil side effects. I used to buy them in Hollywood.

That's how they looked when I indulged.
To heck with poetry. I need to publish my memoirs. Trust me - - it would be one harrowing helluva read.

But you don't want to hear this, do you?
Now that I'm trapped in a friggin' hospital bed, let's talk about bears. And cats.

Bears, anyone?
When I first moved to Tennessee, I was assured there were no bears in my area. Lately there have been a few sporadic sightings.

There have been jokes that if I get back home, I'll have to chase the critters out who now occupy it.
I've had snakes, 'possums, raccoons, and sparrows in my house. No bears. Yet.
My  bear AI image above.

Cats? How about ancient Egyptian cats. In my previous blog post, I boasted about my recent purchase of a very rare object from a genuine (private) museum collection
This ancient Egyptian kohl jar with Bastet the cat Goddess on the lid.

Well

Big drumroll here

I just purchased another ancient Egyptian  Bastet Goddess cat from the private museum collection. A seven inch statue, circa 14 AD. Made of limestone.

These two rare items have been cleaned but never restored. They remain exactly as found during the excavation at Luxor.

It's been shipped via Canada and will arrive next week.

Am I crazy, unique, fortunate, careless?

Heck, it's only money.

But, Jon, what will you do with them while still in a hospital bed?

That's my damn business.

Jon 🩵 loving cats, ancient artifacts....and danger....and you.

SUNDAY CONTEMPLATIONS

Frequent bloggers are annoying. I'm talking about myself, of course. When you're miserably ensconced in a hospital bed, there's plenty of time to ponder. I write to keep what's left of my sanity. And for your entertainment.

My arm bled (again) this morning. Not much. Seeping through the (massive) bandages. They are (still) giving me blood thinners, which I believe cause the bleeding. The "experts" know best.

I never trust experts.

My "new" room isn't bad, except there's less privacy than my "old" room. Too many people coming and going....

Do I use too many "quotes"?

My ancient roommate is quiet. He's partially senile. They're giving him oxygen. The little oxygen "thingie" (technical term) goes in your nose. He keeps removing it and putting it in his ear!

Unintentional humor abounds.

The view from my window

Sunday Afternoon

The first part of this was written in the morning. Now is the afternoon continuation.

Not as pleasant as it was this morning. There's a feeble curtain that divides my roommate and me. One of the nurses propped Willie up in a wheelchair and took him out for a stroll.

I quickly got out my electric shaver......and shaved. I no longer do it at night, because I don't want to disturb Willie.

I'm slowly learning to be congenial - - which isn't my forte.

Okay, when they wheeled Willie back I got a (an unpleasant) surprise. Instead of putting him into bed, the nurse left him in his wheelchair - - five feet from my bed, facing me.

I'm a private person. I'm not exactly social - - especially when I'm half dead in a hospital bed. I'm not exactly delighted having a strange 95 yr. old man staring at me within the distance of five feet.

I smiled (sort of), said "hello", then.......pretended I fell asleep.

Are you ready for this?

SUDDENLY

A loud emergency BUZZ jolted me. I heard a Swoosh. There was (another) power outage. My air mattress was deflating (again)!

Willie was watching me sink.

I was going down like the Lusitania. Within a minute I was on the metal bed frame.....looking up at astonished Willie and the shoddy ceiling.

Dear God, do the humiliations never end??

This is about the fifth time my mattress deflated. I managed to reach up and press the Call Button.

One of the nurse's aides came.....about twenty minutes later. She reflated me.

Then - -

Lunch was served!

The last thing I want to do is eat in front of Willie. Mercifully, he fell asleep.

Lunch was a concoction called Turkey Surprise. It was massively shredded turkey with a thick horrifying gravy.

I was indeed surprised.

Dessert was Summer Fruit Jubilee.

What the hell is a jubilee?
