SLIGHTLY SHIVERING

Thirty years ago I was told that the Arctic ice floes were rapidly melting and polar bears were dying.

Well, comrades, I just looked out my window and saw a family of polar bears freezing to death.

Am I being sarcastic?
Nope. I wouldn't even think of it.

Presently here in the wilds of Tennessee there's a winter storm warning with the promise of 6 to 10 inches of snow. It's snowing heavily as I write this. I just took a screenshot of our current weather conditions at noon (above).

Tonight the temperature is dropping to near zero (0). The fact that my furnace isn't working will definitely enhance the excitement of the occasion. I'm presently heating the house with numerous space heaters. And, after I finish writing this blog post, I'll be putting a roast in the slow cooker. My two cats are sleeping on the bed, near a space heater. The bedroom and kitchen are presently the two warmest rooms. The rest of the house is ICE.

Fear not - - I'm feeling cozy and doing okay so far......
BUT, if we get a power outage tonight I'm a dead duck.

If I survive the night, I'll try to take more snow photos tomorrow.

Send positive thoughts my way. I sure as hell am going to need them.

                                       Cheers, Jon

  1. Sending you positive thoughts, Jon. This year is getting off to a rather shakey start I fear. Fingers crossed!

  2. Polar bears make great fur coats. Do you have a spear or any traps lying around the house? As long as you keep your hands warm, you can sew the hides together in a pinch. I have watched YouTube videos on primitive survival. Looks easy.
Kidding aside.. good luck. It is seriously cold out there. With the right clothing, you can sleep in the arctic. We did that in the Army many times.

  3. LEAVE A FAUCET DRIPPING, PLEASE!!
It's not that bad here on my side of Tennessee... although the temp is dropping, what snow/ice we got has almost melted on the roadways. Take care of yourself and stay safe!

  4. I am going to keep good thoughts for you!!!! This would not be a good time Jon to even put anything out into the universe...especially during a winter storm. here's to hoping the trees staying standing, the heat stays on and the power doesn't go out. And I hope you have candles too. Not to mention copious amount of gin and wine.

  7. As I was reading this post, the snow is finally coming down here in Nashua, NH, Jon. We have about 4 inches on the ground with a possible 2 inches more to follow, certain you have us beat. I also have a crock pot going with beef stew so great minds had a meal plan. Hope you and the kitties keep warm and safe with no outages. Do let us know the storm's aftermath.

I love comments. Go ahead and leave one - I won't bite. But make sure you have a rabies shot just in case.
