GOOD FRIDAY

I made this video a few years ago, revised it several times, have never been satisfied.

My main purpose for creating this was to provide a reflective moment for soothing and regenerating the soul.

Music is from the opera (or festival play) Parsifal by Richard Wagner.

Parsifal isn't a religious opera but uses religious symbols and incorporates the mythical quest for the Holy Grail.

It is a complex utilization of desire, remorse, suffering, healing, redemption, resurgence - - over the span of five and a half hours.

Not for the faint of heart *smile*...but one of my favorite operas.

Easter Greetings, Jon

  1. It took me a minute to get into Parsifal. I have several CD's. My favorite right now has Jessye Norman as Kundry. It is very meditative and oh, that little issue of the quest for the Holy Grail. I enjoyed the Good Friday video. Thanks for posting. Happy Good Friday and Easter, Jon.

  2. I always think of Parsifal at Eastertime (should that be one word or two?)
Wow, I wouldn't have thought of Jessye Norman as Kundry but I'll bet her performance is amazing.
Thanks for watching the video, John.

I have more medical horror stories to share - - will post again next week.
    Have a pleasant Easter.

  5. Thank you, Sandra. Unfortunately, my day was ruined yesterday with more problems with the unreliable transport service. I'm ready to rent a horse....
    Have a pleasant Easter.

    1. I'm glad you enjoyed the video, Jo. I'll admit that it relaxes me when I watch it, although my self-critical eye reminds me that it could have been better.
Warm weather has arrived and I'm starting to see blossoms.
      Have a wonderful Easter!

    1. I'll be brash and agree that it's powerful - - and the music from Parsifal always reminds me of Easter. If I still have a semblance left of sanity, I'll post it again next year (*smile*)
Wishing you, Tom, and the fur babies a wonderful Easter.

  8. Thank you. I'm not familiar with Parsifal, so this is very interesting to hear. And see. I hope things go better for you.

    1. Parsifal is over five hours long, which is an endurance test for even the most devout opera lovers, but the music is beautiful and inspiring.
Unfortunately I'm still having a lot of problems, but at least the warm spring weather is finally here.
      Have a wonderful Easter, Liz!

    1. Thank you! We had frost two nights ago, but it's finally warming up. Birds and blossoms are everywhere. I opened the front door this morning and a bee flew in. A sure sign of spring *smile*
      Have a fantastic Easter!

  10. While I am not that familiar with the works of Richard Wagner, I did enjoy listening to this piece once again, Jon, as I also recall that you've posted it before. We long time blog friends remember these things (smile). I was glad to read that warmer temps and blooms are in your area especially as we face the prospect of rain/snow mixture this coming week. It was not good to read that you had another more issues with that unreliable transport company.

    1. It's always nice to know that observant people like yourself remember the things that I post. I can't remember how many times I revised this video, but this version is the latest.
I've (unfortunately) had another horrific experience with the transport service, which I'll write about next week.
It has finally warmed up here in the TN boonies. It was 75 today (Easter) but cool weather is expected by Friday.
      Thanks for you comment, Dorothy.
