NOTHING

You might want to travel in a one-horse open sleigh.....or maybe not.

(My AI pic)

I'm watching the news - - marveling in abject horror at all the catastrophically stricken places that got 90 feet of snow, minus 75 degree temperatures.....and massive 852 vehicle pileups on ice-laden highways - - where they shouldn't have been driving in the first place.

And here I am, imprisoned in RehabHell, in Gainesboro, TN. Gainesboro (on Saturday) received about two inches of snow. This morning (Monday) there was another inch.

Total: three. Inches.

The temperature is frigid. Today, a daytime high of 18 degrees (Fahrenheit). Tonight prediction of five degrees

Gonna be cold all week.....probably no...snow.

A problem has befallen on me (what, only one??).

My secret stash of Walmart food is nearly gone. Because of the inclement weather, Walmart won't be delivering until Friday or Saturday.

I've been eating canned chili (from the can), canned roast beef, and....of course, tuna. And peanut butter.

Instead of bread, I'm using tortillas.

Cookies? I still like Keebler's chocolate-covered shortbread cookies with peanut butter. And Fig Newtons. Without peanut butter.

I would stash more, but my duffle bag isn't big enough.

I'm freaking out in this friggin' P.T. Rehab Prison, and it's no exaggeration. I don't trust anyone here. I fear that they will never let me out. They suspended my physical therapy, probably due to insurance reasons (that's only an uneducated guess). I'm in a profound depression.

That's why I keep writing these....blog....posts. It helps me maintain whatever is left of my sanity.

I'm not only depressed. I'm afraid. Of losing my freedom and sanity.

An Aside:

My roommate's insufferably talkative wife hasn't been here in two days, due to the bad weather (YAY!)

BUT

The nurses keep the curtains open. My senile (no exaggeration) gloommate keeps pulling the curtains to watch me (BOO!). Today, I tried to pee in the urinal and he kept gawking. So I didn't pee. I don't want to complain. I have enough problems.

It's just incredibly creepy...... and damn infuriating.

Everything in this godforsaken place is.....INFURIATING!!!!!

Jon, thoroughly disgusted

Sorry, I'm in a very BAD mood

DISCONCERTING DAYS

I'd like to sleep through these days, like a lazy cat.

Okay, let's get to the point (which is unusual for me to do).

In my previous post I was talking about the extremely annoying talkative woman who visits my roommate.

I casually admitted that I could gleefully and guiltlessly kill her with my bare hands.

This admission might have flustered some of you. I assure you that cold blooded murder is only my fantasy - - not my absolute intention.

My humor is often cruel, wicked, offensive, brutal, sarcastic, and unfunny. It's part of my charm.

Look back at your lives, my good people. There must have been someone you'd like to kill. Admit it.

So

My roommate's wife visits every day, breathlessly talking incessantly. I ordered ear plugs from Walmart. They help expunge her existence.

My roommate (Leo) is at least partially senile. He doesn't say a word, while she babbles on for hours. I imagine she drove him to senility.

Roommate Leo has an annoying habit.

I am a very private person, which is an impossibility in a hospital environment. I try to keep the curtain between beds closed.

Roommate Leo has learned to reach over and open the curtains. Then he just stares at me. Sometimes for hours.

This is extremely disconcerting. I can't close the curtains because I can't reach them.

I'm afraid to use the urinal. I don't want anyone watching me pee.

Well, today he's watching TV. That's much more interesting than watching me.

Leo, four feet away from me.

On to other things.

The wound under my left ankle is getting worse. It started as a pressure sore long ago. Now it's a massive, horrifying deep wound that drains and doesn't heal. The pain is beyond excrutiating. Xrays were taken last Tuesday. I haven't yet heard the results. I'm taking strong antibiotics. Hope they will help.

Intermission

I had to stop writing because I got an ocular migraine. I get them frequently. Half an hour of rest usually helps to expunge them.

And lunch was served. This time I was stunned. A hearty beef stew, which was very good (but small portion).

Speaking of food

I disliked the food that was served at Signature Health Care, and I'm disgusted with most of the food here at Waters Rehab.
During the past miserable year, I lost an alarming amount of weight.
SO

I'm now ordering food from Walmart. Unfortunately, they only ship non-perishable food here, because the closest Walmart is 30 miles away.
Two days ago I got packets of tuna and a loaf of bread (they only ship certain brands).

Astounding photos

And I made crude sandwiches. Better than nothing.

I'm also eating lots of peanut butter. Pure peanuts blended with plant protein. Tastes a little grainy, but it's nutritious. I love to eat it on Keebler chocolate-covered  shortbread cookies.

I have plans for making more secret meals.

SO
I am still very deeply depressed because the wound on my ankle, my painful swollen knee, and my nearly paralysed left leg are keeping me from physical therapy. I'm trapped in a nightmare....and the longer I wait, the worse it will be.

Weather report. Getting chilly here in Gainesboro. 19 degrees (Fahrenheit) two nights ago and snow flurries.

AND THE GRAND FINALE

To keep my sanity, I'm still buying genuine items from ancient Egypt. I buy them from an archeologist in Canada.
This arrived today. Hand carved in stone. It's an Egyptian amulet, called the Holly Owl - - symbol of wisdom.

Photos are rather bad, but you can see the incredible details that still exist on a statue so old.

Thanks for reading this. I truly love all of you.

Jon ❤️
Collector of antiquities.

A special big thank you to Dorothy from NH. I got your card today and the sentiments that you wrote are beautiful. 💚

P.S. I took better photos of the owl, which I'll include in my next post.  🦉🦉🦉
I'll bet you can't wait.

HELP!!!

A resounding HELP!!!

(should the parrot yell for help?)

Every day I wake up wondering how much worse things can get. And every day things get worse.

I was very apprehensive this morning when a cleaning team came in and put clean sheets and blankets on the empty bed next to me.

I knew my former roommate wasn't coming back (it was a relief to know he would't be there crapping and peeing in bed, burping, puking, farting, etc).

They soon brought a new roommate in. He was quiet, seemingly benign.

THEN, then then then

a woman burst into the room, probably his wife? She LOUDLY announced that she would be staying with him - - all day and all night!

She immediately took charge of everything - - moving the furniture around, shouting about what's wrong with the room. She started bossing the staff and telling them what they should be doing.

I was stunned.

Then.....

She started talking, and talking, and talking. She talked incessantly without taking a breath. The words kept spilling forth, like the release of winged demons from hell.

I swear that I never ever heard anyone talk that much in my entire life.

I was agast when she said that she brought water from home, because she didn't want him to drink water from here!

I was reeling in shock, feeling like I was suddenly hurled into a diobolical realm beyond reality.

Talking, talking, talking, talking, talking, talking

(how could she talk with that mask on?)

I am a man of very few words. I'm always quiet. I keep most of my thoughts to myself. I learned early in life that it's very dangerous to say too much.

I'm also a devout pacifist. I abhore any kind of violence.

But

I SWEAR TO GOD ALMIGHTY

I could gleefully and guiltlessly kill this woman with my bare hands, without any sense of remorse.

Silence is golden.

GOOD NEWS! The night nurse politely kicked her out! Said that visitors can't stay overnight. Amen.

Let's move on to other things.

The wound care nurse looked at the "wound" on my ankle and was extremely concerned. She said that the wound is so deep that she saw the bone. No wonder I'm in agony.

They took xrays today and I will be given antibiotics.

This post is getting too long.

I'm a man of few words, but my writing is annoyingly verbose.

Admit it - -  where else could you find such free entertainment as mine? I'm half dead, trapped in a hell hole, and still have my sense of humor. And it isn't often that you'd come across a blogger who admits he could commit murder.

Let me take you to dinner, boys and girls. This is tonight's mystery meal.

I do see peas and carrots, but....what....?

Anyway, I got a delivery today from Walmart - peanut butter and cookies.

My next delivery will include ear plugs.

Jon ❤️
