My only consolation was the glorious weather: sunny, cool, inspiring. These final days of October are truly touched with gold.
The foliage along the drive to town was spectacular and I could have taken dozens of great photos. Unfortunately there's nowhere to pull over on the narrow road. If I ever attempted to, I'd probably be killed by a logging truck or go over a cliff.
So I risked my life by pulling over once and very hastily took these pictures.
When I got near home I snapped these photos of the road that leads to my hermit abode:
After I got home (and recovered from the severe trauma of driving to town) I decided to take a few pictures in my back yard forest. I knew this beautiful sunny weather won't last. Rain is expected by Halloween.
There were lots of birds (including some hawks), several squirrels, a few wasps - - and one big mosquito that landed right on my camera (I'm not kidding). He must have been left over from summer.
